. The nengajyo (aka nengajo - 年賀状), is a tradition of sending new year’s greeting cards in Japan. It is similar to the custom of sending Christmas cards, Chinese New Year cards or other festival cards. They are sometimes written on postcards and known as nenga-hagaki (年賀はがき) or new year’s postcards. The Japanese New Year (お正月, oshogatsu) which falls on 1st January is the biggest holiday in Japan. Families would gather, catch up and reunite over this auspicious celebration. The scale in which the Japanese decorate their homes and stores is comparable to how Malaysians would do it for Chinese New Year, Hari Raya and Deepavali...
